Right, but SIMS usually produces a message like

"your message XYZ was delivered to the mailbox ABC"

which does not mean anything to the sender. Maybe the user ABC doesn't check his
mailbox daily, but once a month only?

The mail server should _ignore_ the RR-request and just forward everything. In this
case, the mail application of the user ABC (Eudora, OE, or whatever) should take care
of this issue. When I get a message where a RR is qequested by the sender, I get a
notification from Eudora whether I want to send it or not; in most cases I decide not
to send anything.

But in fact, I really don't care whether SIMS produces a message or not...

Best wishes, Christian.
