Many thanks to all who responded to my post. Just to clarify: 1) I can get mail from any one of thousands of website users - they are not part of a corporate net so sending out a directive not to use RR is impossible. 2) It appears that some mail clients have RR on by default - the users don't understand why my server sends them something back when others don't. 3) Some users have set the header "Disposition-Notification-To:" which passes through SIMS and is acted upon by my client. That's fine and makes a lot more sense than having SIMS let someone know that it has put their mail into a mailbox that may never be examined. (As a side note, I NEVER respond to these DNT requests. When you get my answer, you know I've read my mail!) So the $64 question is still "How can I turn off RR in SIMS???"
