In my opinion, any "vacation service" that sends more than one autoreply to the same address should be shot. ;-> They quickly become annoying on lists like this one.

I seldom use a vacation service - usually I send out an advance email to people who mail me often. I also send them a "travelling" email address and request that they not send any attachments to it.

When I do use a vacation service I implement it with a listserver that only sends one message per address and has a few other checks - like not sending mail to itself or to other mailer-daemons.
