> Hadn't heard of exim, I'll go take a look at it. Pros: Incredibly flexible anti-spam capabilities that allow lots more mail to be rejected instead of being accepted and bounced (thereby reducing network impact and server load), with significant whitelisting capability to minimize false positives.
Cons: Incredible flexibility comes at a cost of some complexity. Still have to manage a separate POP/IMAP server software, which creates one more management hurdle. Documentation much less available than Postfix or Sendmail; the O'Reilly book covers 3.x when the software is up to 4.x. As far as I know, the only book that really documents the current rev is written by the author and published by the Cambridge press. There is lots of Web-based documentation, but I'm luddite enough to like the feel of paper. My opinion-- I like it enough that I'm probably going to use it as a gateway for my CGPro installation. But there is a learning curve involved, and you are going to have to download and compile the software. -- Dave Pooser Manager of Information Services Alford Media http://www.alfordmedia.com ############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
