Can we make sure the EDE Step #4 script (ede_build_devuser.sh) gets updated in the same revision that applies these changes? The tricky part of that will be to "# Uninstall any old dependency RPMs". This should look for the dependency RPMs by both their old and new names. Another option would be to only support the new names in the EDE script.
