I don't have experience configuring the MWI on Cisco phones, but if it's
similar to that of Linksys phones then you'll need to set the voice mail
server on the phone to be userextens...@sipxipaddress. If the MWI
starts working, keep an eye on it, I currently have an ongoing problem
where the MWI stops working after a day or two (on Linksys and
grandstream phones). I'm not sure how to fix that though.

Subject: [sipx-users] Message Waiting Indicator - MWI

Hello,

Does anyone have experience on MWI (Message Waiting Indicator) and
how to activate it. Currently we have an phone system using sipxecs
although users are not seeing an envelope when messages are
received. Softphone clients is Eyebeam and Hardphones are Cisco. If
anyone could help, it would be greatly honored and appreciated.

Thanks.
