It's an excellent idea Martin. Companies like Cisco sell their product
based on presence features as one of their big hits. It's beyond me
actually why it works so well, but I believe you are correct. I small
widget that pulls from the server a list of configured extensions, or a
default list of extensions and provides feedback on the status of the call
would be spectacular. We sold that as a part of a call center back in the
early 1980's and it was the bomb! The customers loved it. Green was on
phone, orange was on hold. Red was on hold past a specified period of time,
etc. Quick, simple to look at and understand.

Any thoughts of architecting it so applications like that can be add-on
modules like other open source products have, where you can pick a chose
from different apps to install and use? Joomla, which is used for your web
site, has over 5,000 small modules that can be added which are created by
the open source community to plug into their content management system.

Short answer to your question - great idea!

Would Web based status indication be of value? It seems to me that this
would be easier to do and more versatile than trying to get phones to
display things in a uniform way across different manufacturers.

Subject: [sipx-users] Queue Status on Phones

Is there a way to have a queue status notification anywhere on a hardphone?
So one of the indicator lights on say one of the programmable buttons lights
up when a call is in an ACD Queue?

Also on the same topic, is there a way to indicate on an agents phone that
they are logged off or logged in to the ACD?

My concern being if they forget to logout when they step away and are
bounced after not answering a queue call, when they return to their desks
they can visually see if they are logged in or out of the queue.

The phones I am planning on using are the Grandstream 2000's. If it is not
possible to do the above with this phone, is it with another? Thanks for
all your help.
