Let me reiterate that the EHS functionality of the plantronics device works fine. The problem is BLF buttons in the ringing state will cause the phone to go into the "alerting" state and the plantronics headset will beep in the users ear. This is due to firmware version 3.1 and up having enhanced BLF functionality. Here is what I mean by enhanced BLF: http://knowledgebase.polycom.com/kb/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=EndUser-TechAlerts-Audio-UsingSPIPSSIPAsteriskTB43565pdf&sliceId=pdfPage_22&dialogID=3465786&stateId=0%200%203463228
The only way I can see to fix this is to disable BLF alerting, but the Polycom admin guide doesn't have any information on how to disable it.
