Thanks for the info.
I downloaded latest freeswitch-snapshot (it allready has fix that Dale
mentioned) recompiled  freeswitch using the link below.
So that I now have FreeSWITCH Version 1.0.head (svn-18355M).
And it looks to work ok now. 
Voicemail from users with russian display namees can be viewed and listened
ok now.

2 questions arise now:
1. Can anybody foresee any influences (due to this latest FS installed) on
the system functionality/stability?
2. What should I do when I'll upgrade sipx next time? Check that
/usr/bin/freeswitch.sh has correct path to my custom FS? What else?
