If that has to do with ringtones, then the label needs to be a little more
descriptive. "Enable for external calls" doesn't tell you that it would have
anything to do with ringtones. I was actually wondering why my end users
ringtone settings weren't being used.

Unchecking this setting has worked and the ringtones are using those set on the
phone.

In sipXecs 4.4 there is an option on the SIP proxy for distinctive ringtone
that is turned on by default if I'm not mistaken. You'll need to disable this
if you wish to set different ringtones for different extensions.

It's under System >> Servers >> <name_of_server> >> Services >> SIP Proxy

The value is called "Enable for external calls". Uncheck this value and apply,
then restart all necessary services and see if that resolves the issue.

What routing is sending these internal calls to the one phone? Something
in call routing is putting the calls to his extension. I would identify a
phone number that he is getting calls for, look to see where that alias is
assigned in the system, and follow the routing for it. You will find his
extension there. IF every call is going to him, they his extension is set
up in an SBC, or some other device or configuration to send call to him
rather than AA, hunt group or some other routing.

We followed the advice given to us in this forum in regards to upgrading a
sipxecs server. I performed the upgrade in steps from 4.0 > 4.2 > 4.4 and
this actually fixed one major issue we had (that being a problem with
voicemail) but a few problems still remain. The corporation that uses this
server for phones are split into four different entities and before the
system crashed each entity had it's own distinctive ringtone for internal
calls within the company. Now (even though they can select the ringtone from
the phones
themselves) every call has the same system wide ringtone. We also had one
individual that had his phone set to only ring for internal calls or
transfers and now his phone rings for every call. We had hoped that doing
the linear upgrade would have resolved these issues along with the voicemail
issue but unfortunately it has not. Can any one help shed some light on this
issue, we have been dealing with it for some time now and really need it
resolved. Thanks in advanced for your time and assistance.
