and the guys at pfsense have never been particularly helpful to me. for those of you who think im a little rude, try having a discussion with them on their board. i tend to be direct, sharp and to the point a lot. but i try to make the points on target and count. at least you didnt pay me for my support, and my solution is perhaps a little more suitable.
Here's what's wrong with the current script they provide: assumes you are a user and have a provider. You could prioritize the sipx server ip address, but that means ANY traffic for it, including anything nat'ted to the public address (like the gui, including the firewall gui). does not take into account remote users, so you really ought to define "ports only". Why: you get signalling, remote users, and if your provider tells you those rtp ports you should include those. Result: gui's aren't in the same port range and you cant mistakenly hit the gui and make everyone's calls sound like darth vader anyomore (its fun though). its really frustrating for me to hear a company say "it's fine" when it is obviously not. they obviously didnt take time to understand the deployment, or didn't ask enough questions to understand the traffic flow. it's kind of like trying to help someone troubleshoot an audio issue and they never said it was for a remote user. know what I mean?
