What UA are you using? Sending hook flash from a Patton gateway should be possible, but it depends on your call flow and that supplementary services are turned off.
Your actual use case eludes me though, since a hook flash would normally be aimed at the proxy. i.e. turning off supplementary services on a fxs port should result in being able to profile voip default dtmf-relay rtp send dtmf-relay directly to the smartnode as a sip info message (which I think is what you ultimately want). Since the original post is in the forum, why don't you take some time to explain your environment and what you are trying to do.
