Hi Bernard,
I tried out the failing "parted" command after the SystemImager left
the client with a shell prompt. Running parted interactively gives
the expected complaint that "Warning: Partitions(s) on /dev/sda are
being used." and then offers me the opportunity to "Ignore" this
warning and actually write the new disk label.
I guess what we need is a new option in the GNU parted command
so that the --script flag may be augmented by an --ignore-errors
flag allowing us to label a disk despite the warnings. Do you think
there's any chance that the parted developers might accept such a
request ?
I guess I don't understand at all why "parted" has troubles in the
first place with the /dev/sda disk containing a partition table -
could this be a bug in parted ? The parted.c source code throws
this error when the function ped_device_is_busy() returns non-zero,
which I guess means that the disk is already mounted - but how
could that possibly come about ?
We keep parted up to date quite regularly, but I'll take a look into
this.
Regards,
Ole
