“Fit” fits the *window* to the PDF. See also the tool tip for that popup. >> PDF/Automatically resize As it says, automatically adapt the zoom level of the PDF so it fits the view area. >> and PDF/Use >> Current View Settings as Default. Oh, I forgot 'Zoom to Fit' on the >> top bar. This sets the zoom level to fit the page in the view area *i.e., *zoom* to fit). >> >> I find all of these confusing and various settings with different >> controls in different places don't help. >> Well, there simply are various different different things one can do. And in different circumstances. An initial option is not the same thing as a current setting in an open document, so they should be in different places of the UI. Perhaps the “Use current view settings….” item could be removed now, it is there more for historic reasons as you can now set them the preferences. But it offers a more visual way of setting the defaults (as it is based on the actual settings of the document you can now see, rather than some abstract numbers and options). >> I have no idea what settings are controlled by "Use Current View >> Settings as Default." However, “automtcailly resize” *is * a setting (it is an option to keep the zoom level adapted to the view area). I could also say that it encompasses all options the “initial PDF view settings” sheet in the General preferences, it is just another way to set the same options. >> I suggest that you put all of the controls in one place. >> As I said above, they stand for different things, and apply to different things, and therefore should be in different places. Which window goes away? Are you talking about the window for the preferences? That is not the one for the current document(s), not is the *initial* options for new documents. And if you want to see what it is set to, just call the window. It is in a separate window because all of it takes far too much space (given also that there are two sets of options, as willow separate settings for full screen). This is also why before redid not have it, and had it set using the “Use current view settings as default”. >> Help!! >> >> Thanks for a GREAT program, >> >> Tom > Christiaan
