It would indeed be nice if FS would implement something like that,
though it would not help users of older JAWS versions that can't
upgrade but that still want to use Skype. I sent a proposal of some
detail to them years ago, but I missed on timing, because my proposal
reached FS just about the time they came out with the ConfigNames.ini
file, which did a very small part of what I was suggesting but enough
to make implementing my idea rather pointless at the same time.

While this is true. The fact remains that freedom scientific really needs
to institute a better method for handling global scripts. this way there
would not need to be an old and new method of installing SkypeWatch, because
you could just simply add the global scripts to and In file somewhere, and
then the scripts would start when jaws start.
I believe we have been asking for this capability for several versions now
to no avail.

Not sure if I read you right there, but I assume you're talking about
the old and new ways of setting up Skypewatch. The old way was to add
a line to default.jss and recompile. The new way is to create a new
default.jss that loads the old one and then loads the Skypewatch
scripts after it. I admit the new way is more complicated, but it is
also more reliable, and this is not something I can change. I managed
to make the old method work most of the time, but it will not work all
the time, and it is not officially supported anymore for that reason.
It is also harder to keep your JAWS working properly using the old
method if you use the JAWS update feature or even install new JAWS
versions over top of your current one. Going to JAWS 11 from JAWS 10
would not be a problem, but upgrading JAWS 10 would be.

The old ways of skypewatch were easy. I can learn the new way, but I chews
to leave it alone. Anyone new to jaws and Skype will never get it. If
something works don't touch it.
