It can't die. Windows 7 hasn't reached end of life yet, so Skype will not
stop being updated.

Mich, yes what you have is the latest version of Skype for Windows
desktop. I did not get the alert that Marious had, but that's surely due
to the fact that I did not upgrade to Windows 10 yet, my technician had
some problems on working on my new computer, but I think I'll soon have
a new one with new OS.
I sincerely don't know if Skype for desktop will die, but let's hope it
won't soon.
