Rather than making one "impostor in the middle" as for the current

separation distance.
Two comments:
1. It would be nice to be able to run a "two camera" view even without
stereo, with one view as a "peripheral vision" view (overhead, say, or
fisheye) in a picture-in-a-picture spot or even (radical idea) a
second window.
Its a possible use case. Submit it somewhere.
2. You know what would be cool for 3d? A control to dynamically adjust
the 3d separation, like the current "zoom" control. Yes, it's not
realistic, who cares? It's virtual.
See above.
Seriously, with capability-based data transfer, it should be possible to
request optional streams of data for specialized viewers that support
these optional streams (e.g. different camera view), just as limited
clients will be able to NOT receive specific data streams as the OGP
matures and is incorporated into the SL main grid.
