Hmmm... not to my knowledge.

This is probably because DVD is only just being able to be supported under
LInux now. Creative made the sources to the Linux DXR2 driver open source
recently (see http://opensource.creative.com)

There is no such thing as a region 0 disk - the regions are numbered from 1.

A nice map of the DVD regions can be found at
http://www.dvdpost.com/map.html

The decision to play a disk or not is completely under the control of the
player. Either the player can play disks in the region that a disk is
encoded for, or not. The disk cannot affect this decision, other than by
selecting the region code.

Some earlier players could be switched manually between zones. Some even had
a limit on the number of times this switch could be made.

My player has never asked me about regions, and I have a mixture region 1
(US) and region 4 (Aust) disks that work quite happily.

They always have. They used to have a stupid prices for shipping, i.e. a DVD
cost the same to ship as a book, rather than the same cost as shipping a CD.
Given that the cost of shipping a CD was much lower, I refused to order from
them until they changed their policy.

I've ordered 20 or DVD's from them over the past six months.
