Yes, it certainly does...
I should reiterate that it's a config problem, not a hardware
problem. The same modem works on a different machine, and on the
486 under another OS.
Perhaps I should change my query...
Where else will I find relevant configuration differences between
my working machine setup and the 486 setup other than: /etc/ppp/*
and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/*ppp* ?
I've duplicated those settings, including permissions etc., and the
DTR light stays on without the modem ever going off the hook.
It's up to th config gurus now! ;)
