The ones I got was a 10/100 DLINK PCI card works great but couldn't put it
in my stargate box (linux firewall). It was because it is one of those slim
cases which is old and fitted ISA only.

I used roaring penguins ADSL program which works wonders and I only had a
problem with the /etc/ppp/ip-up.local script not receiving the `ipparam`
code... the developers don't know why it's no passing... but that's the
least of your problems..

Subject: [SLUG] About to get Telstra ADSL - Any tips?

I've just ordered ADSL from Telstra. I've just started looking at the
ADSL docs, and I'm just wondering if anyone who has Telstra ADSL can
give me a heads up on what to expect and therefore how to prepare.

I'm running dual boot Woody (2.4.0-test11) and Window$ 98. I currently
have no networking of any kind except dial up ppp.

A few questions, basically aimed at getting the preconfiguration right
in advance:

* What kind of NIC does Telstra ADSL use?

* Any other options I should make sure are compiled into the kernel?

* Should I tell them I'm using it on a dual boot machine, or am I better
to just let them set it up on Win98 to deal with any line problems/
problems at their end etc, and then do the linux setup? How hostile are
they to linux users?

* Is the service bridged with DHCP or PPPoE? If PPPoE, what clients are
people using?

* Static IP or dynamic?

Any other tips, including particularly good sources for RTFM,
appreciated.

cheers,
