I'd be glad to add my LX experience. Jeffs' experience sounds similar to
mine, except I didn't have problems with booting after installation. I
installed a minimal Debian 2.2r2 system, then upgraded fully to
woody. It's now running alot of unstable (Sid?) packages.

On Saturday I got a 4.3GB disk ($140 :)) at a computer fair. That's now
replaced the 1GB - I didn't realise that disk was a half-height brick
until I got it out!

Nice little machine. The CPU is really lacking (nearly 4 hours to compile
a kernel!), but it's adequate for simple network tasks. I haven't dared
trying to run X on it.
