XF85_SVGA is accelerated too. It's a unified driver that contains drivers for
most old svga cards.

I had a similar problem (but opposite) with my brothers machine. I thought
XF86_SVGA (in XF 3.3.x or whatever) was meant to be the "future" of svga X
servers, and the individual servers like XF86_S3 and XF86_S3V were being phased
out. And then XFree86 4 came out...

Anyway, the fonts were really weird. My brother described it over the phone as
"they look like barcodes" and when I finally saw it for myself I had to
agree. Everything is fine now with the XF86_S3V server.
