RTFM!
Read the specs what is REQUIRED by the companies (eg redhat or microsoft)
and see for yourself!

As I wrote (quote myself):

"If you have ever to run an NT AND Linux based network you know"

*I* know as I administer both (have administered Suns, Solbournes and Indies).

You can nfs mount /usr/etc and /usr/lib and others. You change the
config at ONE location and the default config of programs for all machine
  will change.
In Windows you have to administer all the f$^&%$&^ registries for
ALL machines on the network to make the behaviour change for a
  particular program................

And just for some thoughts:

Linux comes with Perl (5.6.0), Windows comes with VBS.
 Does THIS speak for itself??????
And yes I know you can get Perl for Windows, but you need to get it.

Linux comes with bash, tcsh, csh, you name it; windows comes with cmd.
 Does THIS speak for itself??????
And yes I know you can get 4NT, but you have to get it.
