I have been working on one for years - one of those home projects that
just never seems to get off the ground.

I recently found PHP to be much easier to protoype in, so I am currently
working on a PostgreSQL backend, Apache/PHP4 front.

Anybody interested, let me know - I've done a fair bit of ground work
(over 6 years) and there is more to it than just the accounting side.

Any takers, please let me know.

Regards,

Stephan Borg

This won't be what you want to hear but.....

I have to use Westpac software that only runs on WinCrap. I use windows
emulation and windows still crashes/freezes/etc but at least I have the
satisfaction of proving to myself once per week that I have made the
right choice in software for everything else!

MEANTIME.... I wonder if it would be worth somebodies while to write
some nice simple accounting software to suit aussies. I for one would
pay a reasonable price for it.

Just imagine.. something in perl that you could modify fairly easily to
do EXACTLY what you want, instead of what some pointy head decides suits
every small business in Australia. Is that just a dream?
