libttf2 is freetype 1:
  Source: freetype1
  Version: 1.4pre.20011029-1

As is bonus confusing dependency package name:

  freetype2 - Dummy package for transition to libttf2.

(So, freetype2 is actually freetype1.)

Then we have:

  libfreetype6 - FreeType 2 font engine, shared library files.

Which is actually freetype2:

  Source: freetype
  Version: 2.1.2-1

Clear as mud!
