You may believe you were acting "off your own bat", as it were, but as a 
committee member comments like this *will* be seen as a "committee 
directive"....

Might I humbly suggest that if you are acting as a "committee member" in 
these emails, and the content of your email reflects the will of the 
committee, then that's fine wether we agree with it or not....

If, however, you are acting as a "private" SLUG member, then you refrain 
from making these public comments about what YOU believe or do not believe 
the list should be... After all, you have no more right to post here than 
the rest of us, and I'm sure you are intelligent enough to find the DELETE 
key if you don't like a particular email...
