those weren't Ls, they were ones... :)

one way to solve all the package problems (and my preferred method) is to
compile apache from source (but you lose all the benefits of the package
management system). i use the apache toolbox (http://www.apachetoolbox.com)
to make things easier but you can also download src files using apt-get...
