Theo,

Yes I am trying to use rp-pppoe. when I type adsl-start I get the following in
/var/log/messages

router pppd[12806]: pppd 2.41.started by root, uid 0
router pppd[12806]: Using interface ppp1
router pppd[12806]: Connect: ppp1 <--> /dev/pts/3
router /etc/hotpluc/net.agent: assuming ppp1 is already up
router pppd[12806]: [LCP]: timeout sending Config-Requests
router pppd[12806]: Connection terminated.
router pppd[12806]: Using interface ppp1
router pppd[12806]: Connect: ppp1 <--> /dev/pts/4
router /etc/hotplug/net.agent: NET unregister event not supported
router /etc/hotpluug/net.agent: assuming ppp1 is already up

This happens several times. then I get

router pppoe[13116]: Timeout waiting for PADO packets

I have a couple of other questions. This is how my firewall/gatway is configured
the following interfaces
ppp0 internet
eth0 lan
eth1 dmz
eth2 adsl connection

First question is do I neet to give eth2 an ipaddress? So that I can see the
adsl modem?
On my ADSL modem, it has a web interface that I can connect to if I assign an ip
address within the range of the adsl modem's.
On the web interface I have the option to click on the connect button and "by
magic" it gets an ip address and a gateway. So I am assuming that I can connect
to iinet.
if this is the case do I need to have the adsl modem connected and eth2 up and
running and run adsl-start?
