the Dlink dsl-300 is a firewall product, not just a vanilla ADSL modem. you
don't need to use the pppoe client because their is one built into the
dlink. you need to give your machine an IP address and configure the dlink
with your username/password and then set the default route on your machine
to the dlink's IP.
