I am not sure what is better but I have used Oroboros. Its easy to 
install fink and Oroboros and X11 - they come as normal OSX type 
installation packages (disk images) and you just clicky click and they 
install perfectly.
I have been running Grass - a largish Geographics Information System 
under Orboros under X11 under OSX and the X11 apps run fine.

As far as I know you should be able to install Oroboros and Apples X11 
together but obviously run only one at a time.
