Hmm, nice dodge on the numbats there Jeff.

I have two questions.

1) How can you claim that Gentoo contributors are not also FOSS (I've
dropped your redundant software :P) contributors? 

2) Why is it that you (personally, as I don't think you can speak for
the entire FOSS community) view Gentoo so unfavourably that it is the
one distribution you are always so forward about calling backwards?

Just to throw some more useless numbers around, here are the results of
running md5sum over the same directory (/boot) with the only two
distrubtions I have installed on the machine.

Note 1: This is the only test I could think to run at about 2am midweek
after I first read the post regarding benchmarking distributions.

Note 2: I run Gentoo for lots of reasons, "speed gains" not being one of
them. (People truely interested in speed gains would probably devise
their own benchmarks for each package they emerge and try re-emerging
them with different compile flags. If this is what these people enjoy
doing, I'm not going to pick on them because they aren't doing more to
contribute to FOSS...)
