Lots of people have asked me to expand on this, so I'm going to do so in a linmagau article. I'd prefer to take it there, than continue the discussion on the lists (given that some of it has been taken personally and without the humour in which it was intended - my usual cheeky prose doesn't help if the discussion is seen as a flamewar to begin with). It's worth pointing out now, however, that I don't view Gentoo unfavourably, it is the *premise* behind it and similar projects that I disagree with. But subtleties like this are not always clear in email discussions. :-) [ Oh, and whoa, I certainly did *not* claim that Gentoo contributors were not FOSS contributors! ] Thanks, - Jeff -- linux.conf.au 2004: Adelaide, Australia http://lca2004.linux.org.au/ "Consensus is whatever the developers remember or agree with." - Paul Vixie, Open Sources -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://lists.slug.org.au/listinfo/slug
