Actually I am having trouble connecting over USB --
pppoatm -- with all distros, including Xandros.
I have tried with SuSE (9.1), Xandros, PCLinuxOS etc
but it does not work.
My modem is Speedtouch USB -- provided by Telstra. In
fact, if anyone has got this modem working as pppoa --
as opposed to pppoe -- I'd would like to hear about
it.

HTH,
Kanwar
