Depends what you mean by slow and crap. My daughter uses it because she
can't get adsl or cable, and it's fine for her university work. No problem
at all.

The set up is basic DHCP. Like all things, it's horses for courses. She
was able to dump her landline completely, so it cost her very little.

If you want lightening speed, static ip, etc... you probably need to
assess it a bit more, but for simple domestic stuff it works well.
