I finally got my hands on the n800 at the nokia concept store at wisma. $698
as advetrtised.

Getting a replacement headset isnt hard as this was a common connector in
the older mobile phone days. Sim lim basement has a shop tat sells adapters,
they should have one that has a mic + headphones connects so you can use
your own. Button might be a problem though.

E61 owners should rejoice as the N800 shares the same battery as the E61. =)
Now to find an external battery charger for my n800/e61.

This feels like my old zaurus days again...

Now to see if I can get the usb to work in host mode.. and raid compiled
into the kernel.....

Yes, it's an interesting choice on their part. However I have to say
that I've not missed GSM functionality in it. I have an E61 and that
is pretty much on the limit of how big I want my phone to be.

There is an external mic on the n800. It also comes with a set of
headphones that has a built-in microphone. i.e. the headset uses
a special 3.5mm connector with additional mic connector on it. It
works fine with regular headphones as well.
Hmm... I've not tried to use it with a BT headset... I'll have a try
when I get home tonite.

I've got profiles configured for all the hotspots I visit. e.g. I
am set to auto-connect to home and office WiFi networks. I've also
got a profile configured for GPRS on my handphone, but that one is
in manual select mode.
The WiFi hotspots with captive portals like [EMAIL PROTECTED] will
still require you to fire up your webbrowser. I still find that
I prefer using GPRS over [EMAIL PROTECTED] for speed.

Cheers
Stephan
