We were thinking the same thing.  We use an inline Ethernet surge
suppressor and tie it to a ground rod outside the building.  We really
didn't want to eat the extra cost for our installs but thought it was
the right thing to do to meet code.  We are not experiencing these
issues on our installs.  I hope we can pat ourselves on the back now
since the extra grounding may be helping our stability.

I'm just guessing here but my "gut" (and it's getting pretty big) tells

these problems may be related to proper grounding.

Maybe SB could put a grounding lug on the bottom of the outdoor units...
