That is correct they do use an RJ-11 in Telco Demarc boxes outdoors, but bear in mind the Telco installers are never expected to crimp the plug on. It is factory installed and sealed where the wire meets the connector and only the pins are exposed to the humidity. When one of these things is suspected of being bad they toss it and a new Demarc box is installed. Expensive but idiot proof.
