Latest version of the fw and simpleMonitor (1.5/1.4j6)

I'm in as admin (I'm not that much of a n00b)

No powerShot used... Adapter plugged right into unit (these are indoor
pro's)

Multiple power adapters do the same thing... Same power supply works just
fine on another unit

No auth of any kind enabled (not until I get it setup and running)

The cable on one is an RF cable with an amp at the top... just installed...
I can hook an airBridge up to it, get onto an AP and surf just fine... I
can hook my Lucent/WaveLan card up to the cable and surf just fine...

IP Addresses isn't the problem.. (System/Network admin for 10+ years) RF
isn't that much off from that...

Distance between the two is about 4 miles, I can see it just fine with my
crappy lucent card and an airBridge... But I can't even have the AP
associate to an AP that's just a few miles away... (yes, both diff channels)

I set it back to repeater mode after factory reset... I can do a fact reset,
set it up as a normal AP and connect to it locally (via wireless) just
fine... But when I set it to repeater mode, I can't get the AP to connect
to any other AP's. I set the ESSID in manually that I want to repeat and
set it to roam (works just fine on another AP this way) and I can't see
anything locally on the wireless...

One unit is brand new, just got it in a few days ago..... the other one is
one that I am sure was working, but it's been sitting on the shelf waiting
for a deployment that needed it...

Unit 1 is sitting at the bottom of a tower in a building right now... Unit
2 is sitting here on my desk..

That answer your questions?

Sounds like many things:
Logging in as user instead of admin
   Primary port not set right
   Wrong FW for repeater mode
Wrong MAC in authentication on main AP
   Water in cable
   Bad power (low voltage)
   Faulty powerShot
Wrong config on xxxxxxx(fill in the blank)

Have you used simpleDeploy on it, what FW are you using, what version of NMS
or simpleMonitor are you using, how much cable are you using, can your test
device see the main AP and the repeater AP, what model of power supply are
you using, how old is the unit, are you plugging anything in to the Ethernet
port of the router, where are you monitoring it from, if you 'factory
default' the repeater AP how is it staying in repeater mode, what IPs and
subnet are you using, how far is the repeater from the main AP, how far is
the monitoring device away from the repeater, how far away is the monitoring
device away from the main AP, how much wireless experience do you have, how
much networking experience do you have? Unless someone has had this EXACT
problem and fixed it, we just don't have enough information to troubleshoot
the problem. Please give more detail.

Subject: [smartBridges] Wireless port problems...

Ok... Here's a big problem that's starting to just p*** me off...

airPoint Pro (indoor)

Unit 1: Will not do any RF Output when in repeater mode... If I set it to
AP mode, and reset it (holding in the reset button) and clicking the factory
default's button... and spend 10 min or so doing this the unit will start
sending RF packets...

Now, the counters show that it's getting rf packets, but not a single tx
packet... not even beacon's...

Now, Unit 2:

Same problems as Unit one, except with a twist... On the Tx packets for the
RF interface, I see one broadcast... never anymore than that... and the
Ethernet interface keeps resetting about every 2 min... This one is just
going to be a normal AP...

Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? On Unit 1 I'm trying to
Associate it to an AP. I can see many AP's, but any of them I double click
on it just counts down to 0 seconds and gives me the failed message. If I
put the info (ESSID, BSSID, etc) in manually, as soon as I hit the Set
Values button, it pop's up an error telling me it can't set it...

Any idea's? Or do I have to RMA these units? I already have a handful of
other ap's that I am having to rma...
