poly
phaser is now making a surface mount LPD unit for 2.4ghz, called the W2.4 with
sub 25$ pricing in quantity. In addition, Tripplite has a very simple Cat5 LPD
system that can be included with a Smartbridge for less than $10 in 1000 qty. To
reduce the damage from static, which i think is one of the most common sources
for smartbridge problems, and improve quality, these may be features we wouldn't
mind paying for. Especially since they would reduce the extra parts we already
have to buy for a smartbridges install. (we have to buy LPD systems for antenna
and cat5 even though this is supposed to be a 'outdoor hardened product' because
if we don't, we don't even get 1 weeks life out of them). At the very least,
smartbridges REALLY needs to provide up-front warnings in the
documentation that such products are needed to make a smartbridges last a
while. From the docs I have, their is supposed to be surge protection in the
powershot, and I have to say their isn't a lick of surge protection in the
powershot (except maby if you hit it with a massive power surge it will
burn up!)
