For an AP I would certainly agree. Adding an extra
$100 for all of that to our current CPE costs would
cut to much into our profit margins though.

We're competing with Cable and DSL here and unlike the
telcos we can't give our equipment away for free. Even
at $99 we're selling it to the customer at a significant
loss, but out of that we get a 1 year contract. If we
were to have to pay another $100 for the CPE it would
take an extra 2 to 3 months to recover that, or we would
have to pass that cost on to the customer up front. Some
are willing to pay extra to get this service, most are
not. They are happy to get Cable with the free equipment
and first 3 months free.
