Could they be turning the power down and then factoring in attenuation from cable loss and saying that the 7db is a the end of the cable?
It's late at night here, but if my head is still working correctly then the increased receive gain by the antenna is lost by the increased loss in the cable. So what's the point (apart from an antenna with narrower lobe)?
