I've just had a thought that maybe it's crashing while transmitting, since the downloads are generally OK, but uploads can be either OK or non-existent. If I'm doing a ping during this time, I see an timeout during the drop-out, and then they'll resume once the graph jumps back up. I don't know if this is the way the graph normally handles packet loss or adaptive rate shifting or what.
