The fact that the ethernet link light is going out when it happens tells me it could be one of the following:
1. Airbridge is rebooting or losing power. 2. NIC in the airbridge is bad and periodically dropping out. 3. cable to airbridge is bad. You mentioned you have a coupler in-line. Have you tried removing it, and plugging straight into the airbridge cable? Since this happens both on her router and on your laptop, I think you can rule out a bad NIC on the client equipment. I think you can also rule out anything above the physical layer, since the link light goes out whenever it happens.
