Here's a knowledge test: Ques: How do you ground an SB outdoor unit?
Answer: I sure as hell don't know. Don't think it does any good to ground thru the mounting bracket because it does not make any electrical contact with the board inside. So, it looks like the only way would be thru the coax and a grounded lightning protector. Comments? Rebuttals? As for your comment, Mike B about not needing LPD on an install because the coax run is so short, I'd like to have some of what you're smoking. For one thing, a LPD is required by code. Also, coax cable is SHIELDED so the surge would most likely enter at the antenna and travel thru the coax, therefore the length of the coax is rather irrelevant as it pertains to picking up stray current. Disinformation is the last thing we need on this forum even if it comes from one of "PolyPhaser's largest distributors". ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Brownson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, August 16, 2003 10:38 PM Subject: Re: [smartBridges] How much are you paying for outdoor shielded Cat5? > Why a lightning protector in the coax line on an outdoor aB?
