Lacquer thinner and 3 boxes of rags.   If you can get the connector undone from the radio, dike it off the cable and start over.  

He will never forget the first layer of tape again. :)

It's much easier to remove a layer of electrical tape from your antenna/ap than wrestling with a bunch of "gorilla snot".

Works in just about every situation and is easier to get off of
the connector later.
