I
noticed a throughput delay with the switch (Netgear
FS-105 10/100) that I had an Airpoint Pro and a Proxim 5.8Ghz Tsunami
MP Subscriber Unit connected to. I had a problem with the
Airpoint and with the Proxim Unit. I have also noticed that Cisco
Aironet 340s (r.i.p.) and 350s also had the throughput delays. It
seems the more devices with different speed and duplex settings plugged
into a unmanaged switch the more problems I have. I wonder if
taking everything down to a 10Mbps repeater would be better,
albeit you would then have to deal with a single collision
domain.

Subject: [smartBridges] AirBridges and Hubs/Switches.Can someone recommend an easy to find, and relativelycheap hub or switch that the AB Ethernet port will playnicely with?I've tracked down the problem of our speed decrease asbeing the switches we are using. I've now tried 3 differenttypes of hub and switch with the same (or worse) results.Basically what I did was plug the laptop into the hub/switchwith nothing else plugged into it but the radio. Then did aspeed test. The result was between 450-600Kbps.I pulled the hub/switch and plugged the radio directly intomy laptop which has an auto sense 10/100mbit Linksys USBEthernet adapter, and did the speed test. The results werebetween 900-1000Kbps.A list of known compatible switches or hubs that don'tcompromise the throughput would be great.Thanks.Kevin Summers
