I must admit I fall into the "Doesn't know what he's doing" category
with Windows servers. I am much more familiar with Novell and Linux for
server use. I find them faster and more stable with what limited
experience I have. I have run every version of Windows up through XP,
or at least had to do some work with it, but I never did like the server
software. With the job here at EC, I'm getting lots of Mac experience
and with OSX, the Linux experience is going to come in very handy. :)

Mine have been pretty solid too. The W2K machines I reboot about once a
quarter (every 3 months) when I do patches. My Windows 2003 web server
has
only been rebooted once for a patch and has been up for about 4 months
now.
The trick is to ONLY load and run what you need. Most people don't do
that
or don't know what they are doing. I work for another company out of
Georgia and our SQL server running W2K has been up for a year.

Nope, not pulling your leg....been running like a champ though I'm not
using it for much else other than being a domain controller. Got a
separate linux box running MRTG and some other neat stuff and that's
been up longer.
