Yeah, am aware of that. SmartOS is a hypervisor useful in cloud setups. That's why I use XStreamOS with the joyent pkgsrc package set for all my needs, both desktop & web development workstation. Tribblix, openindiana or osdyson can also be used for desktop/workstation.Was surprised one of our community members was looking at using SmartOS in a different way, hence posted these queries. From: "a b" <[email protected]>Sent: Thu, 27 Jul 2017 23:58:21To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]>Subject: Re: [smartos-discuss] [smartos-discuss] AMD Ryzen 7 Support> Can SmartOS be used at all as a workstation for web app> development, say for java/php development with Eclipse? It's purposelydesigned to do that, and do it well. It's not a desktop operatingsystem.--Empathy is still a core engineering value.-------------------------------------------smartos-discussArchives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=nowRSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/29021699-39663120Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?&Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
