Is there still resistence to the idea of adding a new SMF service to handle
this type of problem?

The main objection raised seems to be that we already use other methods
for this kind of thing (CAS and Postrun).

The CAS approach (re-write install-info in awk) looks prohibitively complex
in this case. Postrun is a lot better but still requires developers to maintain
a version of the same script per Info-containing pacakge. The SMF approach
puts less overhead on developers and works with files installed by means
other than packages. Stephen also addressed concerns about alternate
root scenarios.

Should I submit the ARC case, or are there still too many fundamental
objections?
