Is there still resistence to the idea of adding a new SMF service to handle this type of problem?
The main objection raised seems to be that we already use other methods for this kind of thing (CAS and Postrun). The CAS approach (re-write install-info in awk) looks prohibitively complex in this case. Postrun is a lot better but still requires developers to maintain a version of the same script per Info-containing pacakge. The SMF approach puts less overhead on developers and works with files installed by means other than packages. Stephen also addressed concerns about alternate root scenarios. Should I submit the ARC case, or are there still too many fundamental objections? This message posted from opensolaris.org
