You'd have to try it and see. The charger I bought this year for my  
iPod classic doesn't work with the iPhone, but I've bought a cheap  
iPhone 3G charger from Amazon (about £8, I think) and it works fine.

Since the last software update I  haven't had to use it much - phone  
tends to last all day.
